Long Rocks Low Tide – Digital Image

About this piece

2017 – Tankerton – UK

Along the beach between Tankerton and Swaleciffe there is a small wildlife reserve called Long Rocks. The Saxon Shore Way path runs though through the reserve right next to the beach, which is separated by a narrow river that overflows into the sea.  It is a wonderful little haven that I visit all the time.  From this quiet spot there are wide open views to the west of the Swale and the Isle of Sheppy, and looking out to sea you can see across the Thames Estuary toward Essex and Southend.

When I took this photograph it was a beautiful sunny and warm May day, the peacefulness of the seen can only be questioned as to why the small sailing boat is so far up the beach.  Well only a few day before there had been a howling storm and this now mast-less boat found itself in the wrong place at the wrong time!
